My solution is to hire a house/dog keeper while I'm away. A lot of kennel staff and veterinary nurses offer this service. They just move into your house. You also have some professional pet keepers who are bonded - but they keep busy and probably don't have a lot of time to stay at home with your dog. The best thing to do is to inquire at the reception desk of your regular animal hospital. I managed a reputable animal hospital for many many years and I still never boarded my dogs there.
