The J.A. Henckel knives hold up very well to the test of time. I got a similar deal at my local Linens N’ Things.

Although I would not suggest sharpening cheap knives, the J.A. Henckel knives can be sharpened time and time again. My chef’s and santoku (the 2 most used) get a sharpening every 6 months for a grand total of about $10. Beware, after sharpening they are VERY SHARP.. almost like new.

I definitely agreed that there are times when it’s worth it to spend. And it sounds like you got a great deal.

But, if I may be a little rude, if the Magic Chef knife was dull, why didn’t you (or don’t you, since an extra knife is always handy) just get it sharpened? It’s not that expensive as I understand it.

Just a thought on my part.

Even if you had gotten it sharpened, though, to pay only $30 out of pocket for a good set of knives is really an opportunity!
