Ha. No worries there. Losing tax breaks because we make over $150,000? That's a problem I'd like to have!

Watch your income level as you may not be as advantaged by getting married as you think. If your combined income is near or over $150,000 then you will get phased out of deductions you used to be able to get. Student Loan interest is a big one.

To set your W4 to ensure you overpay your taxes is just plain smart. It may be providing the government with an interest-free loan, but most important of all, it's ensuring I NEVER have an unexpected tax expense and best of all, I can count on a second bonus each year -one from my employer and one from Uncle Sam. I've heard all the arguments about setting your W4, but I totally think a refund is smart business all the way around.

If you are in California and file post the first of Feb., they will be sending you an IOU for the state refund. Nice, huh?

DH and Iusually prespend in our mind, but this year we got less cuz when you move up into another tax bracket... the child credit lessens. So, although I am happy to have moved up... I need to start thinking about getting some investment property under my belt or opening a business.

Ah, taxes. Aren't they fun?

We got a decent-sized refund last year, too. Yay, marriage! If you have your last pay stubs of 2008, you can plug that info in to a calculator on turbotax.com to get a pretty good idea of where you stand.
