EEEE! My DSLR is probably one of my best "baby" gadgets. I love the photos I can take of my tiny tot. You've seen his pics. He's cute but always on the move! Gotta have a fast shutter.

I also bought a similar package type deal on eBay, and a separate telephoto lens. Mine only goes up to 200mm. 300 is amazing!

With Europe, babies, and general hobbying, you won't regret this purchase. And if for some reason you do, you could always sell it and get most of your money back.

When I got my camera, we had JUST finished paying off our credit cards. I was so tempted to just charge it, even while we had some credit card debt. I figured, what's a few more hundred bucks?

And I wanted it in time for the fall foliage.

But I held steady and waited until we actually had the money. It was winter by that time. Oh well!

You will love this camera and I agree that you did the wise thing, going ahead and spending the extra now to get the better lens. Lenses are pricey. A good lens for very little cash (under $100!) is the 50mm f/1.8. It is the "step-sibling" to the f/1.4 which is considerably more expensive, but the 1.8 takes great photos. I haven't been using my camera nearly as much these days, I need to get that bad boy out! :) I have the 30D, but before that I had the Digital Rebel. I hope you LOVE your new toy! :)
