What about deposits that are not direct deposits? How does that work with ING? I make three to four deposits a month. I'm getting tired of our bricks and mortar bank.

Love ING for banking. It's actually much more convenient than my "regular bank" with the exception of depositing money. Usually just transfer between ING savings and banking accounts, which is instantaneous.

I have been using ING for some time now, and I have never had problems with them. I frequently use their overdraft feature while waiting for money to be transferred from an external account, and from what I can tell I don't get charged at all unless I carry a negative balance through the end of a month. I once let it go over by about $600 for about 3 days, and only incurred a $0.39 charge. I also use it as an emergency fund of sorts, as I have minimal expenses and I can overdraw two whole months' rent and utilities worth of cash without hitting the bottom. (of course this would just be until I can move some money from elsewhere, but a useful tactic nonetheless)

I have never actually sent a check from ING, but I am curious how it works out for you. Please post re: this in the future.

Shane gets paid on the last business day of the month. We have online bill pay for our rent (due the 1st) and it won't send the check if there isn't money in the account to cover it.

Our solution is to be a month ahead on the rent money.

Example: The paycheck from today (Sept 30.) will be used to pay the rent due on Nov. 1.

It took us awhile to get to this point, but it works well for us, especially since he only gets 12 paychecks a year!

Good for you for finding a solution that works. We don't have a local b&m bank, either, so we do everything electronically. There IS a b&m, it's just that they're located in Texas and Virginia, which does us no good. Sometimes it is a hassle but for the most part, it works well.
